RCCB-3 enjoins public to participate in 2010 census

San Fernando City, Pampanga (14 April) -- Regional Census Coordinating Board (RCCB) enjoins the public to participate in the upcoming 2010 Census of Population and Housing from May 17 to June 11.

The census aims to take an inventory of the total population and housing units in the Philippines and collect information about their characteristics such as age, religion, gender, marital status, occupation, materials used in the construction of the house, land ownership and if their family belongs to those that are considered as Indigenous Peoples.

Its results shall be the basis of the government in the formulation of national and local development plans and programs.

This will also help businessmen in determining where and what to invest for they will be able to see the consumer and labor demands for different products and services.

It will also be very reliable to members of the academe in their conduct of various researches.

58,000 enumerators, a majority of which are public school teachers, will be part of the data gathering in the entire archipelago.

RCCB cautions the public to entertain only enumerators that can show a National Statistics Office-issued ID.

After the interview, enumerators shall place a sticker in the gate or door of the house.

Philippine population rose to 88.57 million in the last census conducted in 2007.

Bulacan was mentioned in that census as Central Luzon's most populous province. (PIA 3)
