¡HAGASE CONTAR!

ya es hora is an historic non-partisan Latino civic participation campaign launched as the Latino community's action-oriented follow-up to the immigrant mobilizations of 2006.  The campaign represents the largest and most comprehensive effort to incorporate Latinos as full participants in the American political process.  This multi-layered campaign takes a comprehensive approach that links naturalization to voter participation under a single message:  "it's time."

The expanded focus to include the 2010 Census will make the ya es hora campaign one of the most comprehensive civic participation campaigns in history.  The ya es hora model allows for a seamless coordination between a massive network of community-based organizations across the country and the preeminent Spanish-language media companies:  Entravision Communications Corporation, impreMedia, LLC., and Univision Communications Inc.

The ya es hora ¡HAGASE CONTAR! National Campaign coordinators are the NALEO Educational Fund (NALEO), Mi Familia Vota Education Fund, and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) with the following National Partners serving as Campaign Coordinators:  League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC),  and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR).  The campaign is a strategically-designed program with elements that include a bilingual information and assistance hotline; a coordinated media campaign; comprehensive webpage; and a network of community-based organizations with the capacity to provide Census information and serve as Census form assistance centers.  In areas identified by the campaign as requiring additional capacity and focus, special regional coordinators will be identified to help coordinate informational trainings and liaison directly with local communities.

The Campaign will develop specific collaterals and a tailored engagement strategy that will help ensure that any existing lack of capacity in recently emerging communities will not impede a full count.  This strategic outreach will include informational briefings on Census Bureau outreach programs and materials/presentations on how to engage the community on the Census; including how to organize community events, talking to local media and working with area business partners.  We aim to achieve a full Latino count in the 2010 Census.

Join the ya es hora ¡HAGASE CONTAR! Campaign and make a difference in your community!
